Leaky Gut Support for Dallas: Test at Home, Plan by Video
"Leaky gut" gets thrown around online so much that it's easy to dismiss. In my practice it's a specific, practical question: is the lining of your intestines doing its job of letting nutrients in and keeping everything else out? When it isn't, the effects rarely stay in the gut. People come to me for bloating, but also for food reactions that keep multiplying, skin that won't settle, foggy afternoons, and aches nobody can explain.
I work with Dallas patients on this entirely by telehealth if they'd like. You collect the test at home, we review it together on video, and you get a plan you can follow without a weekly drive.

Three Questions I Get From Every Dallas Gut Patient
"Can you actually test for leaky gut?"
There isn't one perfect test, but we can get a lot closer than guessing. A comprehensive stool test such as the GI-MAP includes markers related to the gut lining, inflammation, digestion, and immune activity, plus the bacteria, yeast, and parasites that often sit behind a stressed lining. If your bloating hits soon after eating, I may also use the GI-MAP for SIBO testing to check for small-intestine overgrowth. I read those together with your symptoms and history rather than chasing a single number.
"Is a gut microbiome test something I can do from Dallas?"
Yes. The kit ships to your home, you collect a sample in your own bathroom, and you mail it back in the prepaid packaging. There's no clinic visit and no waiting room. If I also want blood work, such as a nutrient or inflammation panel, it's drawn at a commercial lab draw site, and there are many around Dallas.
"Why didn't my last gut protocol stick?"
Usually one of three reasons. It skipped the "why" (what's irritating the lining in the first place), it ran too short, or it removed foods forever without rebuilding tolerance. A plan has to cover all of it.
How I Sequence a Gut Plan
I think of gut work in four overlapping phases. The order and length change for every person:
- Calm it down. Identify and temporarily reduce the main irritants. Depending on your results, that might be specific foods, alcohol, certain medications you'll discuss with your doctor, chronic stress, or an overgrowth.
- Address what's growing. If testing shows imbalances, such as yeast, unfriendly bacteria, or parasites, we address them with targeted herbal and nutritional support.
- Rebuild the lining. Nutrients and foods that support the intestinal barrier, along with digestive support if you're not breaking food down well.
- Widen the menu. Reintroducing foods methodically so you end up with more variety, not a shrinking list of "safe" foods.
Stress management and sleep run through all four. The gut and the nervous system talk constantly, and a plan that ignores one tends to stall.
Signs Your Gut Lining Might Be Part of the Picture
Rather than another symptom list, here's what tends to show up in the stories I hear:
- You've become reactive to foods you used to eat without thinking.
- Your digestion flares at the same times your skin or joints do.
- You feel noticeably worse after rich restaurant meals or a stressful week.
- You took a round of antibiotics, or several, and never quite felt the same.
- You've been told your GI workup was "normal," and you still don't feel well.
A Patient's Words
"I have been dealing with gut issues for the past 18 months. I've had many many tests and been on numerous medications with no answers from my GI doctor or THE Mayo Clinic... She actually listened to me during our first session." Charlotte, from our patient success stories
Not Ready for One-on-One Care?
Some people want to start on their own. Our self-guided gut program walks you through foundational steps at home. If symptoms are significant or you've already tried the basics, one-on-one care with testing is usually the better investment.
Leaky Gut FAQs for Dallas Patients
Who is the best gut health specialist in Dallas for me? That depends on what you need. If you have alarm symptoms like bleeding, unintended weight loss, or severe pain, start with a gastroenterologist. If your conventional workup came back clear and you're still struggling, a functional approach like mine, which looks at the microbiome, gut lining, food, and stress together, is often the missing piece. You can work with me from anywhere in Dallas by video.
Can I take a leaky gut test online? You can start online with our free 15-minute call. If testing makes sense, a stool test kit is mailed to your home and we review the results together by video.
Do I need to come to Waxahachie? No. Everything can happen by telehealth. Some Dallas patients like to meet in person. Our clinic is at 304 N College St in Waxahachie, about 30 miles south of downtown Dallas on I-35E.
How long does it take to see changes? It varies with how long things have been off and what testing shows. I set expectations at your report of findings and check in regularly so we can adjust. I won't promise a timeline I can't stand behind.
Is leaky gut connected to mood? The gut and brain are closely linked, and many of my patients notice their mood and focus shift as their digestion improves. If you're curious, try our leaky gut and mood quiz.
