Why would I need or want to do a detox cleanse?
Even the healthiest among us can’t escape toxins! No matter how careful you are, your body accumulates more toxins than it eliminates. A cleanse helps to release toxins like:
- Pesticides
- Xenoestrogens (synthetic hormones)
- Plastics
- Air & water pollution
- Parasites
- Chemicals from foods, medicines, or surgery
- Buildup from stress
What does the detox cleanse involve?
Our 21-day cleanse class from Standard Process includes all the materials and details you need to detox safely. From your supplements to your grocery list, all the steps will be outlined in your cleanse kit and the first meeting on January 10th, 2023.
We don’t believe in starving to cleanse! You’ll eat lots of organic fruits and raw, steamed or grilled vegetables, fish, and antibiotic-free proteins. The idea is to avoid any possible allergens, so wheat, dairy, caffeine, and alcohol, are eliminated as well as all processed foods, sugars, and junk food. Remember, it’s only 21 days! If you’re worried about your sweet tooth, you’ll have fruit smoothies and chocolate shakes that are sweet and satisfying. You’ll also have approved recipes and a shopping list.
Your cleanse includes:
- Standard Process supplements
- Tasty, nutrient-packed detox shakes (17g of protein per shake!)
- Meal plan, grocery guide and cookbook
- Doctor-guided classes each week (4 meetings total on 1/10, 1/17, 1/24 and 1/31)
- Peer support
What should I expect?
Most of the time, you will feel great! In the beginning, it’s common to experience flu-like symptoms from weaning off carbs and sugar, but don’t worry – this is the result of your body naturally releasing toxins. Muscle aches or headaches are the most common symptoms but are typically short-lived.
Your energy will improve, and you’ll discover food cravings and potential allergens that you’ve put up with for too long. Issues like sinusitis, poor digestion, low mood, and brain fog will start to resolve themselves, too.
I’m happy with my weight, should I still cleanse?
Yes, this cleanse is not ALL about shedding the holiday pounds. Weight loss is a cleanse goal for many, but even if you’re at your ideal weight, a cleanse is a safe way to maintain peak healthiness. The cleanse will help you focus on nutrient-dense foods and how your diet affects your overall wellness. Consult with your doctor to confirm it works within your program.
When are the meetings?
This is our 17th year of the detox cleanse class! We’ll have 4 virtual meetings on Zoom throughout January 2023. Meetings are optional but encouraged for the full experience.
- Tuesday 1/10 at 6:30 p.m. CT – Kickoff meeting with Dr. Tenesha Wards
- Tuesday 1/17 at 6:30 p.m. CT – Check-in and healthy snack ideas
- Tuesday 1/24 at 6:30 p.m. CT – Check-in and extra detox bio-hack solutions
- Tuesday 1/31 at 6:30 p.m. CT – Final meeting and nutritional Q&A with Dr. Tenesha Wards and Karly Baughn, FNTP
Is it required to attend the meetings?
No, your schedule is your own! We recommend that you attend the first meeting for information about the Standard Process products and what to expect; however, if you need to miss a meeting, you’ll still be on track with the program.
The classes are designed to educate you about healthy eating for a lifetime and offer peer support but are not an obligation. You’ll have access to our doctors and your peers through Practice Better, our online portal.
I’ve done one of your cleanses before. Can I do it again?
Absolutely! Regular cleanses reduce your chances of inflammation, which is the root of almost every disease that our patients see us for. Even the most elite athletes and health nuts benefit from a cleanse to stay healthy! If you’re a current patient, ask your provider about any specific instructions for your cleanse. You don’t have to be a patient to join us!
Will I keep taking my other supplements during the detox cleanse?
This is on a case-by-case basis. If you are an Infinity Wellness Center patient, we will review this with you prior to the cleanse.
You should continue to take any prescription medications from your primary care physician, hormonal replacement (Progesterone creams, sublingual estrogen, progesterone or testosterone replacement), or any prescribed neurotransmitter products.
As with any nutritional protocol, always consult your medical care practitioner first. Please email us (info@austinholisticdr.com) or call our office (512-328-0505) if you have further questions about our upcoming cleanses!
